Poems
People Please
"People, please.
We say we don’t have impact,
But have you ever stepped on a single thumbtack?
Felt worsened by a single person?
Have you thought about Alexander the Great,
Who took the established world and put it into a single state?"
Steps Forward
"You can walk a thousand steps,
But still only take one step forward.
Your feet may push you ahead,
But the final impression depends on the effects."
The Dictator
"He tells me when to eat.
He tells me when to shower,
When to sleep.
He tells me when I need to breathe.
He dictates me."
The Moment of Attack
"I watched her head fall slack.
As I sat there with gravel digging into my knees,
My arms growing tired with the growing weight of her body,
All I wanted to do was wheeze."
Below My Skin
"No one ever said it,
But I understand to keep them hidden.
Covered by my wit.
To me, they are forbidden."
Help Me, Please
"I don’t know what’s wrong.
Well, that’s not entirely true.
I’m trying to be strong
After being thrown into the throng,
And I don’t know how to get through
Because I’m stuck like glue.
And that’s why I’m singing this song."
"Humane," We Say
“'Having and showing compassion and benevolence'
Is the definition of “humane,”
But our actions can only be called malevolence
As our planet is put in considerable strain,
Our animals in substantial pain,
And our resources pour down the drain."
In Memory of Roger Culbertson
"A superhero is defined
as a benevolent fictional character;
One with superhuman powers.
These heroes are the legends of mankind.
And they’re always showered with flowers."
Oh, Jayla
"Oh, Jayla.
When I drew your hair,
I swear it was a whole affair.
Because those tiny curls,
Became as precious as pearls,
And I had to get every single one,
Or the portrait would become undone."
Applicant Training
"For as long as I can recall,
I’ve had a plan moving forward.
No matter the state of my mind’s disorder,
A path onward would put my stress at ease.
But it became somewhat of a disease,
Where I was plagued with a future
As the present stood by as a commuter."
The Battle Within
"They add protection
To an already fortified section.
Like battlements on castle walls,
They secure my heart,
So no angel falls."
For You, Momma
"The writer inside me is one you’ve created,
Harnessed with time, patience, and laughs.
Many of these words have been thoroughly debated.
Seen in my memories like videos and photographs."
